Client Branding/UX Design

This section contains three real freelance works creating marketing and advertising materials for a fitness coach, an app creator and an artist. Two pretend client work is also included on this page (barber shop and sushi restauraunt), with following presentation slides.

Pretend Client

The designing process of creating marketing and advertising material for this client is outlined in this section. I had a lot of fun making these designs and enjoyed the challenge of exploring different options.

Beginning Process

1. Client Creative Brief

Work began with the “client” sending in a creative brief. Carefully going through each point to make sure the goal was well planned to accomplish and their objective would be completed.
2. Color palette

The colors were the first thing I explored as their intention was unique and bold, wanting Noir inspired designs/colors. So dark greys and bold reds were explored to make this pallete.
3. Logo Sketches

The first logo sketches I focused way too much on detail that any final design made with these would be too busy and complex. Simplifying was much needed.
3.a Simplified Logo Sketches

Simplified the logos, but kept the playing card design in mind.
4. Refined Logos & Font Styles

Black and white refined logos were made first to show the designs and some fonts were explored. The client liked the third design the best as it best portrays their objective of keeping the playing card inspired design.
5. Card symbols & Color

Colors were added to the third design and they wanted to see all of the card shapes (heart, diamond, club and spade). Spade was the chosen shape and more font options were desired.
6. Final Design

After more colors and fonts were explored with the client, the final logo design was made. With that finished all the other materials fell into place.

Zen Sushi Continued…

The next focused material was the business card. The same color palette was followed as well as playing card aspects that tied with the logo that was created. Having the logo created first, made the other marketing and advertising materials a smoother process to design. Shown below were some ideas created and the chosen design.

Packaging

A ‘to go’ or ‘take home’ box was the main focus for the packaging design. Different order of the colors of the logo were explored to see what the client desired more. A lighter design or a more colorful. In the end the first design was chosen.

For the website design, I gathered ideas from both the logo and the business card to help with the layout and overall feel. Three pages were desired for the website, a home page, menu and contact. Each page was designed on Adobe Illustrator. More detail and breakdown of each pages function and features are included in the presentation listed at the bottom of this page. This was by far the most challenging material, yet the most fun as it brought together everything that was made so far.

Artist Client

This is a current client as more marketing and advertising materials are being needed. So more content will be added in this section as more material gets created.

Business Card

The client already had colors in mind and knew what painting he’d like for the back of the card. But wanted it put together in such a way to have a modern yet adventurous/artistic feel. This is hinting at how he would like the future website to feel as well.

Driveway app logo

App Design Client

This client needed a logo to advertise their new app that brings car lovers from local areas in Northern Utah together. Promoting car shows and other car related events that gather that community.

Process

Communication

Client first reached out to me in response to my Facebook post about getting my LLC for freelance design. Then communication for goals and desires for the project were via email.
1. Sketches

The design for the logo changed a lot and it was quite a struggle to find what the client was looking for as some inspirations lead to adding a car in the logo, to no car, then to a tire.

Car was removed from any logo idea.
1.b

Tire and a “wing” design was then preferred over the others as it brought more simplicity.
2. Colors

Only a few colors were mentioned which meant a little more exploration on different shades. Red was eventually added in some of the refined tire logo designs.
3. Color Logos

With the chosen tire design, color was only added to the “wing” upon client request. More detail was wanted, but advised the client to keep it more simple. The next logos were made to show the difference of keeping simple to more complex.
4. More Complex Logos & Fonts

As the client was thinking of more detail, we concluded that a tire was the right shape, but further simplicity was needed, even from the original tire design. Fonts were also explored during this logo creation period.
5. Simplified Logos & Comparison

This is showing the simplified tire designs. The client liked the center of the above detailed tire and wanted a little tread to show rather than smooth edges. Then adding the letter ‘D’ in the center of the wheel.
6. Final Logo

After struggling with the client to help them find what they were looking for, the final logo was chosen. No color was added as the client decided to just have a black logo and a white logo until their app is made.

The app is not yet in full motion yet, however the logo is in use for advertising!

BOGE Fitness

Fitness Coach Client

This client needed a logo to advertise their coaching business that would convey a soft strength, catering to all young-middle aged adults. Greek pillars were their inspiration.

Process

Communication

This client was referred to me to bring a logo idea they had to life for their fitness coaching business. The first logo idea was too similar or already taken by another fitness program so that will not be showcased here. Questions were asked via video calls and messaging on goals and desires as well as the work process. Upon client request, 6 variants of the logo were made, but only 4 have a purpose for use and those will be showcased here.
1. Logo Idea

The client already had the idea made, and needed it to be simplified and brought to life in 3-4 different variants to be used for different marketing materials. No sketches were made.
2. Colors

More pastel colors were explored for this project. The client liked having more of a variety to work with so the color pallet was left to not be simplified from this.
3. Logo one

Each logo made was colored and labeled accordingly for easier decision making for the color options. Dark sage green is representing one of the chosen colors for this design. This is their main logo to use on anything and everything for the company.
4. Logo two

This logo was designed to be used as sort of a watermark or stamp for announcements.
5. Logo three

This logo has a similar purpose as logo 2, except for when an announcement or page is being sent out for the clients progress and goals.
6. Logo Four

This logo’s purpose is mostly social media based. Will be the first post or last post acting as the copyright or the trademark of the brand.

Branding Presentation Highlights

Pretend client based on a real barber shop. Consultation was met over video chat to get “client’s” (instructor’s) ideas and goals for their branding and what materials they wanted to have, etc. The featured items are in the presentation and what was created for them based on desires: Logo design & color schemes, business card, Facebook Cover Image, 10 Social Media Posts, and 3 Page Website.
